Vacuum Steam Condenser, Korea

This single row vacuum steam condenser (also called ACC or Air Cooled Condenser) was designed, manufactured and commissioned for a 130MW combined cycle power plant in Korea. The advantage of a single row design is freezing conditions are more easily overcome.

This ACC unit is a multi-row design and was supplied for a Hydrogen Compressor service in the north west of China. This unit was unusual in that it was built in accordance to API 661 specification (an air cooled heat exchanger specification developed for the petroleum industry).

These two ACC installations were specially designed to cope with harsh desert conditions, where sand storms are not uncommon and summer temperatures can reach 50 deg C.

At the opposite temperature spectrum, this ACC that is currently under erection has been designed to operate at ambient temperatures as low as – 45 deg C. The site is located some 400 km north of Moscow; an ammonia plant that MHI and Sojitz Japan are jointly constructing for Russian fertilizer producer PhosAgro.

Economiser Brownfields Retrofit, Australia

The below economiser modules were replacements for a 38MW boiler installed in a sugar refining cogeneration plant. The design considered easy replacement of the cold end section tubes in the event of dew point corrosion.

Access to replace the bundles were severely restricted, so too lifting capacity. As a consequence the economiser was designed in modules with a maximum width of just 3.8m and a maximum lift of 7 tons. H-type finned tube were selected for this application.

H type economizers units are especially suited for brownfield retrofit projects where vastly superior performance improvements can be enjoyed when replacing conventional plain tube economisers.

Steel H and HH fin economizer applications are suitable for most heat sources, including coal fired boilers, bio-mass boilers, marine vessels engines (EGB), FPSO’s and heavy duty diesel engines.
