Multiple hearth furnaces
Jord has over 35 years experience in the design and fabrication of multiple hearth furnaces and associated process systems. Applications include activated carbon production or regeneration, sugar de-colourisation, uranium yellow cake production and magnesia calcinations.

Jord offers comprehensive turnkey services for its furnaces, taking turnkey responsibility for all aspects of the plant. Auxiliary equipment that this comprises includes materials conveying systems, ash handling systems, burner management systems and process controls.

The actual kiln (hearth) itself comprises multiple circular hearths stacked on top of each other and enclosed in a refractory-lined vertical casing. A vertical shaft in centre in the centre of the kiln slowly rotates a series of rabbling arms. Radial teeth on the rabble arms move feed material around each hearth, from the highest one progressively down each hearth to the lowest one. Process air & steam is supplied where appropriate for the required duty. The shaft arms are fan cooled

The shaft has a double-wall construction, allowing cool air flow to up centre tube and exit out the top of the furnace. Hot air is ducted back for re-use. Thick, securely insulated walls are of paramount importance to conserve heat , maintain low shell temperature for operator safety, and make the kiln as energy efficient as possible.

Auto draft and oxygen monitoring equipment utilize power and assure clean combustion

Rotary Dryers
Jord’s technology spans a broad range of rotary dryer and cooler configurations, including direct fired, indirect fired and steam tube type. Firing temperatures can range up to 1,600 deg C. Any available fuel source can be used. Cooler technology encompasses direct air swept, indirect external water cooled, or water tube cooled.

Dryer and cooler shells can be fabricated using any weldable metal, including difficult to weld materials such as titanium.

Jord will package the plant up with auxiliary components such as the materials handling system, dust and fume control, and process systems control.

Heaters
Jord has proven experience in the more complex industrial heating services, where high temperatures, high pressures and/or erosive and corrosive slurries demand specialized technical requirements.
